In September, UQ Library hosted A Wicked Problem: AI, Copyright and Intellectual Property in the FW Robinson Reading Room in Fryer Library and online.
About the event
The event explored the evolving impacts of artificial intelligence on copyright and intellectual property law and the challenges it presents for the respectful management of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property.
UQ experts Susan Beetson, a Ngemba, Wayilwan and Wiradjuri computer science academic and Dr Pratap Devarapalli, Honorary Fellow at the TC Beirne School of Law shared their insights and expertise on the importance of addressing questions of cultural authority in the development of AI technologies and the challenges for determining ownership of AI-generated material.
