The fellowship is awarded annually.
Applications for the fellowship open early in the year
Eligibility
This fellowship is available to any scholar from Australia or overseas. It will not usually be awarded to students enrolled in research higher degree programs.
How to apply
- Investigate Fryer Library collections for project opportunities.
- Prepare a fellowship proposal and supporting documents.
- Complete the Fryer Library Fellowship Application Form and upload the following documents to support your application:
- Curriculum Vitae – include details of degrees and professional qualifications; academic, professional, community and other positions held in the past five years; a list of publications, including public presentations; and activities, achievements and awards relevant to this application.
- Project proposal – in no more than 3 pages, outline the work you intend to complete at UQ with the assistance of the Fryer Library Fellowship. Specify the publication output you expect to achieve during or immediately following the fellowship period and detail how you will use the Fryer Library collections.
- Two referee reports – include the referee's full name, email and best contact number and a statement from them addressing your scholastic and research ability, your experience in the proposed field, and their assessment of your project proposal.
Selection criteria
Strong applications will:
- make substantial use of Fryer Library collections
- result in scholarly publications
- draw on unique archival collections
- look at under-investigated collections.
Applications will be assessed against the applicant’s achievements, research track record (relative to opportunity), the strength of the research project proposal itself and the likelihood of publishable outcomes that include a digital component.
Applications will be considered by the Fryer Library Fellowships Committee, comprising representatives from UQ Faculties and the Library.
