Areas of responsibility
Jeff Cruz (he/him) is the University Librarian with overall responsibility for all services, spaces and staff at The University of Queensland Library, which includes:
- Collections and Digital Services
- Library Engagement, Technology and Strategy
- Library Research, Scholarly Communication and Repository Services
- Library Student Experience.
As the University Librarian, Jeff is responsible for partnering across UQ, with a focus on:
- building support for research and teaching, including open access
- enhancing the student experience of the Library
- and deepening internal and external partnerships and collaborative ways of working.
Biography
Jeff has over 20 years in the library sector, with a career in academic, public and special libraries in Australia, the United States and Spain. Prior to his appointment as University Librarian at The University of Queensland (UQ), he was Director, Library Student Experience at UQ, Associate Director, Library Site Services at the University of Sydney, and Manager, Library Network at the City of Sydney.
Jeff holds a BA (Hispanic Language and Literatures) from Boston University, MA (Spanish) from Middlebury College, MA (Library and Information Science) from the University of Arizona and an MPA (Public Administration) from the University of Melbourne.
