Our collections
The Fryer Library collects published and unpublished material in:
- Australian literature and drama
- Queensland architectural plans and records
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages and culture in Queensland
- history of The University of Queensland and the papers of its scholars
- collections that support the holdings of University museums
- rare books and journals
- Queensland’s political, social, and cultural movements.
Criteria for acquiring materials
We consider all acquisitions against several criteria, including:
- Fryer Library collection development policy
- Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) protocols
- current holdings in the Fryer Library
- significance
- copyright status – The Fryer Library highly values the donation of unpublished material where copyright is assigned by the copyright holder to the University of Queensland.
- physical size
- physical condition
- digitisation options, including the use of the Creative Commons Licenses when copyright in unpublished material is retained by the copyright holder.
Donating to Fryer Library
Offers of material and donations from members of the public are welcome, including donations made under the Australian Government Cultural Gifts Program.
Process for donating
If you would like to proceed with your donation, please complete a Donate material to Fryer Library form to express your interest in donating to the Fryer Library. We will contact you when we have reviewed your request.
