Support for clients with disability
We are committed to providing accessible and welcoming library spaces for all students and visitors and will do whatever we can to assist you in having equitable access to library resources and services. We encourage UQ students to contact a Diversity, Disability and Inclusion Adviser at Student Support and Wellbeing Services to discover other ways UQ can support you such as by providing a Participation Assistant or setting up accessible course readings from the Library.
Accessible facilities
Some of the accessible facilities in and around library spaces include:
- wheelchair accessible options
- lifts close to entryways
- height-adjustable desks
- dedicated and bookable spaces with assistive technology.
Check accessible parking options.
Low stimuli spaces
We have specific types of spaces such as low-light, quiet and soundproof for those preferring to have a low level of external stimuli.
Lockers
We provide lockers that can hold small personal items that you can access for a semester.
Contact a Diversity, Disability and Inclusion Adviser for details.
Accessible resources
Many of our resources are hosted on accessible platforms and we provide some help about how to use these. We can also provide accessible versions of required learning resources and connect you with accessibility tools to convert files into alternative formats.
Website accessibility
We aim for a minimum level AA as defined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1). You can help us fix any accessibility problems on our site by reporting them to webmaster@library.uq.edu.au. See our web browser compatibility statement and Web accessibility at UQ for more information.
Library staff
Library staff are happy to help with wayfinding, retrieving items from the shelf, and providing advice and assistance.
Contact us if you would like a consultation or if you have questions at accessibility@library.uq.edu.au.
For general enquiries please contact AskUs.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
The Library participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative. Our staff will provide additional support, understanding and time to wearers of the green Sunflower lanyards, badges or wristbands. These are available at a Library AskUs desk.
