Request items
We have options for you to request items for teaching, learning and research purposes.
Request an item from our general collection
Available items cannot be requested to be collected at another library on the same campus.
To request an item from our collection at another campus:
- Log in and use Library Search to find the item you need (some resources, like High use items can't be requested)
- Click on the item to view the details.
- In the Get it section, select the option Place a request.
- Choose a pickup location from the available list.
- Select Submit.
- We will email you when the item is ready to collect. You will have 5 days to collect the item. Log in to your Library account to view or cancel requests.
If all general loan items are already on loan: follow the same process to place a request and we will recall the item for you.
- Clients with disability may request staff assistance.
- External and remote students may select home delivery as the pickup location. Visit Borrow by mail for more information.
Request an item from rare and special collections
To request an item:
- Book an appointment time to view the item in the FW Robinson Reading Room.
- Request Fryer items before you visit so we can have the items ready for you to use.
Request a scanned journal article or book chapter
Request a scanned journal article or book chapter from our print collection using document delivery.
Request journal articles from the Library warehouse:
- Email circ@library.edu.au
- Include the following details: journal title, article title, article author, volume, issue, publication date, page range.
- Include this copyright statement: I declare that: I am requesting this copy for the purpose of personal research or study; that I will not use this copy for any other purpose; and that I have not been previously supplied with a copy of the same part of this document.

Request items not available in our collection
- UQ students and staff and hospital staff who are Library members can request resources not in our collection using document delivery.
- UQ staff and students can suggest resources for the Library to purchase if they are not part of the collection.
