Areas of responsibility
Sam Searle (she/her) provides strategic direction for developing and managing UQ Library's general and special collections, ensuring that:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges held in UQ collections are respected and elevated, and Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) principles are embedded in library operations
- students, researchers, and educators have equitable access to high-quality, affordable resources that support excellence in learning, teaching, and research across all disciplines
- UQ's unique collections are preserved and accessible, showcasing the University's history and cultural contribution to Queensland and beyond.
Biography
Sam joined UQ Library in 2023, bringing more than 25 years of library and archives experience in Australia, Scotland and New Zealand.
Her previous library roles include Head of Digital Library Services at Griffith University, Research Data Coordinator at Monash University, eResearch Development Coordinator at Victoria University of Wellington Te Herenga Waka, and Digital Library Projects Manager at the National Library of New Zealand Te Puna MÄtauranga o Aotearoa.
