During the winter break, we're completing scheduled electrical works in the Duhig Tower (Building 2). Between 6 and 23 July, each floor will be closed at different times for upgrades.
There will be an additional short outage on levels 2 and 4 on 9 August.
Access to study spaces in Duhig Tower
The building will remain open. Works will occur one floor at a time:
- each floor will be closed for a few days while power and lighting are unavailable
- the lift and stairs will remain available, except for floors being upgraded
- building access will vary while levels 1 and 2 are closed. During these times, use the alternate entry.
Other library locations will be open as usual.
Upgrade schedule
Level 2: closed from Monday 6 to Wednesday 8 July
While Level 2 is closed:
- enter the Duhig Tower via the Level 1 entry
- access upper floors via the lift or stairs as usual
- access Merlos coffee shop or the Great Court area via an external route.
Level 4: closed from Thursday 9 to Friday 10 July
- The Fryer Library and FW Robinson Reading Room will be closed.
- Alternative postgraduate study spaces are available on Level 5 of the Duhig Tower and Level 4 of the Biological Sciences and Central libraries.
Level 1: closed from Tuesday 14 to Friday 17 July
While Level 1 is closed:
- enter the Duhig Tower via the Level 2 entry near Merlos
- access Central Library via one of its external entries.
Remove your items from the student fridge
Please remove all your food and containers from the Level 1 fridge before 6am on Tuesday 14 July. Staff will remove any remaining items before the upgrades.
You can use an alternative student kitchen, including in the Biological Sciences or Central libraries.
Level 5: closed from Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 July
Alternative postgraduate study spaces are available on Level 4 of the Duhig Tower, Biological Sciences and Central libraries.
Levels 2 and 4: closed Sunday 9 August from 6am to 10am
Please use alternative study floors during this time. Floors will be open as usual after 10am.
