From 24 November to 22 December 2025, we’re improving levels 1, 3 and 4 of Central Library and adding fresh new study spaces!
During these upgrades, levels 2 and 4 of Central Library will be open as usual. Levels 1 and 3 and the link between Central Library and the Duhig Tower will be closed. There will also be some changes to library services and access to collections during this time.
Thank you for your understanding and patience while we freshen these spaces up.

More about the upgrades
We're refreshing and improving levels 1, 3 and 4!
On Level 1 there will be brand new flooring to give the space a fresh new look.
On Level 3 we are adding additional low-light study spaces and comfortable new furniture. You can look forward to more:
long tables with lamps
high-backed chairs
height-adjustable desks
power and device charging access.
On Level 4 you can expect a comfort upgrade with new furniture for the space.
The refresh will add more low-light areas with desk lamps to help create a comfortable, focused space for study.
Level 3 will have extra study spaces with elements like the low-light lamps (left), long tables with similar lamps (top right), and high-backed chairs for added comfort (bottom right).
