We are delighted to announce the successful Open Textbooks @ UQ grant applications for the first round of 2025! This grant round stood out for the thoughtful and impactful proposals and variety of topics.

About the grants

Our grants include two types:

  • Strategic grant ($6000) – This grant is to help support the creation of open textbooks suitable for a large-cohort course, multiple courses, or one that focuses on topics that are strategically important to UQ.
  • Create a new textbook ($4000) – This grant is to help authors create a book to use in their course.

  • Bridging Theory and Practice: Mastering Clinical Nursing Skills
    Dr Lori Delaney, Dr Jessica Ingleman and Dr Amy Mitchell 

  • Computation Design and Digital Workflows
    Associate Professor Joe Gattas

  • Financial Management for Business
    Dr Lin Mi

  • A Portable Workbook for Data Analysis: R for the Social Sciences
    Associate Professor Renee Zahnow

  • Science Communication 2.0: Storytelling Through Technology
    Associate Professor Jack Wang

  • Strategic Media in an AI World
    Dr Renee Mickelburgh and Professor Jane Johnston

  • Yet Another Guide to Music Theory
    Dr Simon Perry

Create a new textbook grants

Four grants were awarded to:

  • Introduction to Software Innovation (Title to be confirmed)
    Professor Tim Miller

  • Leading, Teaching, and Mentoring in Nursing: An Australian Perspective
    Mrs Kelly Hooper

  • Theories and Methods for Plan-Making in a Regeneration Context
    Dr Sébastien Darchen

  • Understanding Child and Adolescent Development: A Guide for Educators
    Associate Professor Elizabeth Edwards
