HackAIthon event rules and guidelines
Submission rules
Submissions should be developed during the weekend. Submissions must be the new and original work of the team (not plagiarised) or a reuse of existing work.
When designing solutions, consider the needs of individuals with visual, auditory, or mobility impairments to ensure accessibility for all. Be mindful of cultural, socio-economic, and gender diversity, creating experiences that are respectful, welcoming, and inclusive across different backgrounds and identities. Thoughtful design leads to meaningful impact.
Prizes
The HackAIthon prizes for winning teams:
- 1st place: A$2,500
- 2nd place: A$1,500
- 3rd place: A$1,000
There will be 2 bonus Judges’ Choice prizes of A$500.
The prize money must be divided equally among all team members. To be eligible to receive a share of the prize money, each team member must have attended the hackathon in person.
UQ Library reserves the right to update or amend event guidelines, judging criteria, and prize allocations as further details are confirmed. Participants will be notified of any changes as they arise.

The judges’ decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into. The judges reserve the right to disqualify entries that don’t meet the submission requirements or that do not comply with the rules.
