We partnered with students to develop an online resource and videos for new students at UQ.

The new resources

Getting Started at the UQ Library aims to help you get started at UQ. It gives an overview of what the Library has to offer and how you can find resources and support during your studies.

The Starting with the Library playlist on YouTube has new videos that focus on the key things students identified as important to know when first using the Library. The videos are:

  • Your Library – overview of how to use the Library, on campus or online, for all your study and research needs.
  • Booking Library rooms – how to book a study space to suit you.
  • Printing from your mobile device – the easiest way to print at the Library.
  • Borrowing and returning books – how to find online and physical books via the Library.

About the resources

The resources were developed in partnership with UQ students as part of a Student-Staff Partnership. Our student partners provided valuable insights, ideas and feedback on what students would find useful and what they wished they had known when they first started.

About the experience

This is what our student partners had to say about the Student-Staff Partnership projects:

This opportunity gave me a chance to connect with people beyond the classroom, working alongside UQ staff and gaining valuable insights from a collaborative, real-world project.

Ann (Postgraduate, Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology)

This project is so fun! It is definitely a great opportunity to unleash my creativity while coming up with solutions for fellow students.

Mesulam (Postgraduate, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law)

This project has been fascinating as not only have I learned more about the library, I've also developed skills while creating communication materials with fellow partners.

Zahra (Undergraduate, Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences)

Teaching staff

Teaching staff, you can also embed the resources in your Learn.UQ courses.
