Open Texbooks @ UQ has published a new open textbook, Indigenising curriculum at The University of Queensland: A handbook.
About the book
“Indigenising curriculum at The University of Queensland: A handbook” edited by Professor Tracey Bunda, Associate Professor Katelyn Barney, Associate Professor Levon Blue and Dr Laura Deane, includes chapters by Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff across The University of Queensland.
Professor Tracy Bunda on the Handbook:
“The Handbook - Indigenising Curriculum at UQ is an important scholarly contribution which details pedagogies, engagements with Indigenous communities and the development of resources across multiple disciplines.”
The Handbook explores processes, benefits and challenges of Indigenising the curriculum at UQ. It provides a record of work being undertaken at UQ and guidance to non-Indigenous staff who are motivated to Indigenise the curriculum in their disciplines.

Professor Gregory Winslett (Director, Institute for Teaching and Learning Innovation) said:
“A remarkably useful and unique resource that reflects well on the UQ Teaching community and our ongoing commitment to Indigenising the Curriculum. We are distinctly lucky at UQ, and in Australia more broadly, to have a direct opportunity to infuse our curriculum and teaching with the intellectual contributions from the world’s oldest continuous living culture. In my view, this handbook cannot be seen as a one-stop solution for the work ahead - it’s a starting point, a provocation and a promise that will fuel our relationships - between teachers, with community and - most importantly - with our students.”
Supporting open scholarship at UQ
