UQ researchers, it is now easier to make your work free to read through these useful new features and improvements in UQ eSpace.
We're sharing these tips as part of Open Access Week (20–26 October 2025) which is about equitable access to knowledge and thinking about the ways we can share our research and its benefits more widely.
Open access publishing via UQ eSpace
UQ researchers can make their works openly accessible by depositing their Author Accepted Manuscript (post-print version of a research article) in UQ eSpace. This is known as Green Open Access. Visit Make research open access in UQ eSpace to learn more.
New 'Make open access' button
UQ eSpace now highlights works that you may be able to make open access through the repository. We developed this feature based on feedback from UQ researchers.
- Visit My works (UQ login required) in UQ eSpace.
- Use the Make open access button to upload an author-accepted manuscript and make your work free to read. UQ eSpace will walk you through the process.
You can continue to use the Request a correction feature in UQ eSpace to upload a file at any time.
Meet open access funder obligations
It's now easier to identify works that need to be reviewed for open access obligations. UQ eSpace will identify and group works for you.
Visit My open access (UQ login required) to check if your works meet your funder's (e.g. Australian Research Council or National Health and Medical Research Council) open access obligations.
More about using UQ eSpace
UQ eSpace is the university's institutional repository.
- Visit Manage your research outputs and datasets to learn more about using UQ eSpace.
- Email espace@library.uq.edu.au if you'd like to provide feedback on these features.
