Course reading lists
The Library puts your course readings together to make them easier to access.
Access your course reading lists
There are different ways to get to your course reading lists to see the resources for the courses you are enrolled in. You will need to use your UQ log in to view the lists.
Library website
Log in to the Library. Course resources provides access to:
- readings for the courses you are enrolled in
- past exams papers
- Library subject guides
- course profiles
Learn.UQ (Blackboard)
You can access your reading lists in your Learn.UQ (Blackboard) courses.
From Learning Resources menu item in your course click on the Course Reading List link.
Library Search
You can search for reading lists in Library Search.
- Go to Library Search
- Select Course reading lists from the drop down menu
- Enter the course code
- Click on the semester you require.
Course Reading List records can also be found within Library Search by searching the full course code or by partial course codes with wldcard characters. For example, by PHIL1002 or PHIL* (asterisk for one or more characters) or PHIL100? (question mark for single character).
You can also identify Library Search items on current reading lists by the Course reading list icon. Opening the record will show links to the full reading list for each course, in the Details section. If you are not yet logged in, you will be prompted to authenticate before being able to access the full reading list.

Readings can have different levels of importance. They include:
Required
You must read these to understand your course content.
Required - own copy needed
You must read these to understand course content and will need to obtain your own copy.
Recommended
You are advised to read these specific to supplement core reading.
Further
These help to broaden and deepen understanding on topics covered by the course.
Can't find a reading list?
Reading lists are available during semester only. You can:
- use Library Search to find most items in your reading list
- request Document Delivery to access digitised/scanned readings, including for supplementary examinations.
- Contact the Librarian team for advice on resources to get you started.
Manage your readings
Log in to Course reading lists to get extra features, create a profile to track your readings, add notes and save lists. Set your profile as private or public.
Track your progress
Update the Reading intentions on your readings to stay on track.
Add Personal notes
Add study notes to any reading in your list. Notes can include: reminders for assignments, quotes, questions etc.
- Click the View actions menu on any reading
- Click Personal note
- Add your note and Save
- Click View Profile under your name to view a list of all your notes.

Use My Lists to save a list to refer to for the life of your degree.
Using reading lists for your assignments
Export readings to use in your bibliography
Save time with your referencing:
- Set the Citation Style
- Click View & Export to export the list in the referencing style for your course.
Search for specific readings
Search by author or title within a reading list.
Get organised
Select Type and Filter to view readings by:
- type of resource (Article, Book, Chapter etc)
- importance (Required, Recommended or Further etc).
Add study notes
Use the Personal notes option to add key information to readings to go back to later when you write your assignments.
Find other readings
Can’t find a reading? You may need readings that are not part of your reading list. Try searching by the title and/or author in Library Search.

Requesting accessible required readings
The Library can assist with creating accessible required readings. We can provide Word, pdf or html formats, depending on student requirements.
