Scanning is free. 

Default scans are:

  • single sided
  • in colour.

Scan to email

Your scan will be delivered to your UQ email address. For guests this is your print/copy card email address.

  • You can only send scan and email to yourself. You can share the file via email
  • There is a file size limit of 10 megabytes, if the scan exceeds this size it will not be delivered

To scan:

  1. Touch your UQ ID card or print/copy card to the printer card scanner
  2. Place your scan material into the top feeder tray or onto the photocopy glass
  3. Press the Scan/Fax button on the printer menu
  4. Press the Email:me box
  5. Adjust the scan settings 
  6. Press the round Start button to start scanning
  7. Press Log out to finish

Scan to USB

You need to use a USB stick, not a portable hard drive. 

  1. Touch your UQ ID card or print/copy card to the printer 
  2. Insert your USB, you can find the USB port on the right side of the ID card scanner
  3. Place your scan material into the top feeder tray or onto the photocopy glass
  4. On the External Memory pop-up screen, press Save to External Memory
  5. Adjust the scan settings
  6. Press the round Start button to start scanning
  7. Press Log out to finish

Take your USB with you.

Scan settings

Single/double sided scanning

Press the 1-Sided option to open the single or double sided (duplex setting).

Set the output file type

  1. Press the PDF option at the bottom
  2. select your preferred file type: PDFJPEGCompact PDFXPS, etc.

Multipage scanning from a book

  1. Press Application in the bottom-right hand corner of the Scan Options page
  2. Scroll right across the settings. Turn on Separate Scan 
  3. Press Close to return to scan options
