Lynda.com changes to LinkedIn Learning

During September, all courses formerly provided by Lynda.com will be available through LinkedIn Learning. The University of Queensland (UQ) will continue to provide access to this content for staff and students so you will be able to access the same great training courses and gain new skills.

What is available through LinkedIn Learning

  • Access to more than 5000 courses taught by industry experts to help you develop business, technology, and creative skills
  • Access to courses via your desktop, mobile device, on LinkedIn, or within Learn.UQ (Blackboard)
  • Personalised course recommendations based on your skills and experience to help you to achieve your personal and professional goals (you can display completed courses on your personal LinkedIn profile if you want to)
  • Curated topic pages to make it easy to find something new to learn
  • Resources such as quizzes, exercise files, and coding practice windows

How to login to LinkedIn Learning

As with Lynda.com, you must activate a LinkedIn Learning account to access the course content. This is not a personal LinkedIn profile, nor do you need a personal LinkedIn profile to use LinkedIn Learning.

To activate your LinkedIn Learning account:

  1. Go to LinkedIn Learning
  2. Click Sign in
  3. Click Sign in with your organization account
  4. Enter your UQ email address in this format:
    • Students - s1234567@student.uq.edu.au
    • Staff - version with @uq.edu.au at the end
  5. You will be redirected to the UQ Authenticate page. Log in using your UQ username and password. Any existing learning history and certificates from your Lynda.com account will be in your new account.

If you have a personal LinkedIn profile you can choose to connect your Learning account if you want additional features such as course recommendations for your skills and position and what’s trending on LinkedIn Learning.

Outage during changeover

You may not be able to access either Lynda.com or LinkedIn Learning for up to 18 hours as data is migrated to the new platform.

Building your profile in LinkedIn

LinkedIn Learning can help you develop skills and attributes to enhance your employability. The UQ Careers Team provides information to help you with communicating your employability and will be offering a series of workshops to help you use LinkedIn Learning and understand how LinkedIn can be used to reflect your employability and professional aspirations. These workshops will be promoted on StudentHub. The team has already scheduled the first of these workshops.
