Building work at Biological Sciences Library, April–December 2024

From April to December 2024, there will be external building work at the Biological Sciences Library (St Lucia campus). The building will be open as usual with some temporary changes to its facilities.

We are committed to providing you with comfortable library spaces and we appreciate your patience while we complete this essential work.

Update 30 July: works have been extended and will continue through Semester 2, 2024.

About the work

We will:

  • replace windows on levels 2, 3 and 4
  • weatherproof sections of the roof and walls
  • make some external concrete repairs.

What you can expect during construction

We will wall off affected areas to limit the impact of construction inside the library. Some spaces and facilities may be temporarily unavailable during this time.

Construction will happen between 6am and 2pm, Monday to Friday. There may also be:

  • noisy work until around 8am
  • dust
  • construction smells including metal grinding, adhesives, and cement.

Alternative spaces are available

During construction, you may wish to:

  • use earplugs, which will be temporarily available on all floors
  • bring headphones to minimise the noise
  • visit the Biological Sciences Library outside of work hours.

Alternative study spaces are available at the St Lucia campus including:

See all library locations and check our study space availability for more information.

Send us feedback

We are working with our building partners to minimise the inconvenience to students and visitors using the Biological Sciences Library.

We welcome your questions and feedback. Contact us if you have any concerns about the work. Thank you for your patience.
