New location for collecting requested items at St Lucia

Update

[3 April 2018] Requested items can be collected 24/7 from the High-Use and requested items section on Level 1, Social Sciences and Humanities Library.

During the Summer Semester 2017/2018, we will be trialling one collection point for all library items requested by UQ staff and students at St Lucia.

This arrangement will begin on Thursday 23 November 2017 and continue until the end of Semester 1, 2018. We welcome your feedback.

Collection point for requested library items at St Lucia

All library items requested by UQ staff and students at St Lucia will be available 24/7 for collection from the High Use area on Level 1, Social Sciences and Humanities Library, Duhig North Building (#12).

Requested items

These include items that:

  • were on loan when you put a hold on them and are now available
  • we have delivered to St Lucia from another UQ location, including the Library Warehouse
  • have been delivered to St Lucia from another library via a document delivery request

Note: Fryer Library material is not included. This material is available for viewing in the reading room and must be collected from Fryer Library, Level 4, Duhig Tower (#2)

Why we're trialling one collection point

We reviewed our delivery processes and identified things that could be improved by centralising the pickup location for requested items, such as speeding up delivery times for items from the the Library Warehouse.

The Social Sciences and Humanities Library was chosen as it is the most central and accessible location for the majority of our clients at St Lucia, and the most used collection point at the campus.

We appreciate that staff and students who use our other libraries more frequently will now have to come to the Social Sciences and Humanities Library to collect their requests, but we hope the faster delivery will make this worthwhile.
