24/7 access to more library spaces and print collections

UQ students and staff will soon have 24/7 access to more library spaces and print collections.

24/7 spaces in the Social Sciences and Humanities Library

From Thursday 27 July, Level 4 of the Social Sciences and Humanities (Duhig Building, #12) will be re-opened as a 24/7 space. UQ staff and students will have access to:

  • study carrels
  • computers
  • the Postgraduate Study Centre
  • postgraduate lockers
  • the Writing Centre

We plan to expand 24/7 access to Level 2 and Level 3 of the Social Sciences and Humanities Library in the future.

24/7 collection access

Students and staff will soon have 24/7 access to print collections housed on Level 4 of the Social Sciences and Humanities Library. New loan machines and security gates will make it possible to borrow this material outside of regular hours.

Collection moves

We're reorganising our print collections at St Lucia. We hope this will make it easier to locate items on the shelves. Your UQ Library search results will display an item's location but if you need assistance please ask us

In the Social Sciences and Humanities Library:

  • Most of the East Asian book collection has been moved into the general collection. East Asian items within the call number range PL 755-PN 6790.J33 Y35 are located in the Quarto collection.
  • Items formerly located in the Reference collection have been moved into the Quarto collection. These items will now be available for borrowing.
  • The Quarto and Multimedia collections will eventually be moved into the general collection.
