Professional staff have full access to the Library

You can borrow books, use databases, attend training and get help from the Library.

Your librarian is your first point of contact with the Library. They can assist you in your work to support UQ staff and students in their teaching and learning, and research practice.

You can discover and access resources using UQ Library Search.  Remember to log in with your UQ user name and password for full access to online resources. We have Subject and How-to guides to help you search our collections and you can contact your librarian for help with finding the best information, including:

  • best practice literature
  • company data
  • news articles
  • standards
  • statistics

Research metrics and reports

We can assist and provide advice in accessing research output and impact data for your staff and unit needs, such as:

  • grant applications
  • school and faculty reviews 
  • country and collaboration reports

We can also help you to access and deposit UQ research output and associated research data using the University's digital repository, UQ eSpace, and data management tools.

Training

See the Library training calendar and UQ staff development for scheduled group sessions. Contact your librarian if you would like to organise some training in areas such as:

  • research data management
  • research metrics
  • open access
  • EndNote and referencing software (download the software from the Library site)
  • MS Office products
  • Prezi
  • Adobe

Online training is available via Lynda.com. Courses include office applications, statistics packages, web design and video editing tools.

UQ eSpace training for Unit Publications Officers is delivered via Research at UQ.

Borrowing 

UQ Staff are automatically members of the Library. Borrow items with your staff ID card. If you're new and not yet in UQ staff systems, you can still borrow by completing a Library membership form. UQ senators can apply by emailing: circ@library.uq.edu.au.

Borrow on behalf on a staff member

Proxy borrowing is available to senior UQ staff and eligible senior hospital staff. Complete the proxy borrower application form to arrange proxy borrowing.
