Welcome to Semester 2

Welcome to Semester 2, 2020!  We hope you enjoy UQ on campus or online. In this post, we'll introduce useful Library services for you to use throughout your studies.

Get to know the Library online

One of the best ways to discover the great facilities and services we offer is to tour one or more of our libraries. Join a tour of Central Library on Zoom in O-week or watch Discover the Library (YouTube, 4m41s)

Find your way around

The New UQMaps early demo helps you navigate the campus with room-to-room wayfinding.  Use it to find your next class, lunch spot, or even hand sanitiser! Share your feedback to help us improve. #NewUQMaps

Great online resources for your studies

Visit our how to study online for tips to stay focused and organised.

Digital Essentials

Use Digital Essentials to improve your digital skills. The modules cover topics like UQ systems and how to communicate and collaborate online.

Subject guides

Subject guides are a good place to start your research. Written by our librarians, subject guides contain suggested resources in your subject area, like books, journal articles, websites and more.

Learn new software and skills

You have free access to LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) through UQ. Learn new software and skills at your own pace.

Help and assistance

Getting ready for a safe return to campus

In response to COVID-19, we've put place a few extra safety measures in our libraries:

  • Many of our spaces and collections are open but you must follow physical distancing guidelines in library spaces,  including when:
    • using our study spaces and group areas - see study space availability for current building capacities
    • booking and using group rooms. Check the room information to find the capacity in UQ Book It before booking a library room.
  • AskUs can help you with searching, accessing resources, resources, wireless internet, borrowing, printing and more. Some of our AskUs face-to-to service points remain closed for now but we've increased our help and information service online. Contact us for help.
  • As we welcome more staff and students back to campus, our Safety Stewards are here to support and guide us toward a warm, courteous, safe and physically-distanced on-campus experience.
  • We're offering low contact printing ('tap to print') and self-service borrowing
  • We've adjusted the furniture in our libraries to ensure everyone has a little more space
  • We're providing hand sanitisers in all our libraries
