Hear Dr Leon Gurevitch talk through three main data visualisation projects undertaken in the last ten years including the unexpected positive outcomes and challenges to visualising data across different subject matters and industries. The projects include the:

  1. design of an Energy Monitoring System in the 2011 Solar Decathlon Competition in Washington D.C.
  2. visualisation of migration patterns in the Visual Effects Industry
  3. analysis of global astrophotography.

Dr Leon Gurevitch

Dr Leon Gurevitch is an Associate Professor within the School of Design Innovation at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.

His research interests are Design, Design Sociology, Science and Technology Studies, Software Studies, Labour Practices and Tech Industries, Post-Work Futures, Automation and Industry, Innovation and Skills Migration, Cultural Analytics, Data-mining and Data-visualization, VR/AR and Stereoscopic Media, Games and VFX Industries, Weta Digital, Animation Film, Media and Design, Sustainable Design, Energy Futures.

Leon is an associate editor of Animation, a peer-reviewed journal about animation and how it unites contributions from a wide range of research agendas.
