Observations of a Journal Editor: An Author’s Backstage Pass to Academic Publishing is a new open textbook from Open Textbooks @ UQ.

About the book

Book cover

Written by Professor Sara Dolnicar from the School of Business, Observations of a Journal Editor offers insights into how journals make rejection and publishing decisions.

It compiles the observations of one journal editor over their eight-year tenure, covering issues such as how to interact with journals and how to avoid desk rejections.

Academic publishing is tough. Early career researchers have little insight into these publishing outcomes.

This book offers an opportunity to actively discuss these topics. Such discussions will help increase the collective understanding of how journals make editorial decisions and how authors can maximise their chances of getting published.
