Semester 1, 2024 course reading lists

We encourage course co-ordinators to start considering learning resources, reading lists and textbooks for Semester 1, 2024 to ensure they are available to your students in Week 1. 

Start managing your reading lists in Talis Aspire 

  1. To publish your list: 
  1. Log in to Talis Aspire and search for your course reading list.
  2. Check you are editing the Semester 1, 2024 list
  3. Update relevant required items to Required - own copy needed (to indicate that you expect students to possess a copy).
  4. Add any new readings. Organise your list and set reading importance e.g. recommended. 
  5. Add any relevant Notes for Students and Notes for the Library to readings.
  6. Publish your list.   
  1. Add Required – own copy needed items in section 3.1 of your ECP, remove any recommended readings and select Confirm.

Not ready to use Talis Aspire? 

If you aren’t ready to use Talis Aspire, the Library can continue to create your course reading list for you. You can help us do this by: 

  1. Updating and confirming sections 3.1 and 3.2 of your ECP 
  2. Email learningresources@library.uq.edu.au with additional or further readings. 

Confirming your learning resources has more detailed information about this process. 

Key dates for Semester 1

  • Lists are available now for updating and publishing
  • Course coordinators should confirm their learning resources by 22 December 2023
  • The Library will publish any lists still in draft on 9 February 2024
  • Semester 1 commences 19 February 2024

Course reading list link in Learn.UQ (Blackboard) 

Your reading list should be automatically linked to your Learn.UQ course in the Learning Resources module as Course Reading List.

Check the course reading list link to ensure your list is linked to the correct course and semester. 

Ultra users

If your course is using the Ultra version of Blackboard, your reading list should be automatically linked in the Learning Resources module in the Course content area.

Use these resources to incorporate Indigenous knowledges and perspectives in line with UQ work to Indigenise curriculum

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives guide can help you ensure your teaching curriculum and reading lists represent the diverse student voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander referencing guide can help ensure Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander authors are referenced respectfully. 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resources includes curated collections on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, authors, activism and resistance, yarns and spoken memories, languages, images, non-Indigenous representations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and peoples and the Torres Strait Islands in the Library. 

Indigenising Curriculum Resources has tools for finding resources including the Indigenising Curriculum reading list, examples of Indigenising Curriculum and information on how to evaluate resources.

Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources (OERs) provide access to free, online material which may be free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. Visit the Library’s Open Education Resources guide to help you find potential OERs to use in your course.
