Creating a bibliography
Create a simple bibliography
To create a list of your references:
- of your own publications for your CV
- for a colleague
- as a reading list for students
Select the references from your library
- Hold down the Ctrl key and click on your required references
- Click References in the top menu bar and then click Show Selected References you should now be able to see only those references which you selected
- Go to the style menu on the library toolbar and click on the Arrow
- Click Select Another Style to open the complete list of output styles
- Find a style that would be useful in your subject area, and then click on it to highlight it
- Click the Choose button to select that style
This will return you to the library window, with only your selected references showing.
Generate the bibliography
- Click Edit > Copy Formatted
- Open your word processor and paste in the references you have copied
Your bibliography should now be listed in your chosen style.
Create an annotated bibliography
Annotate references
- Record your annotation for each reference in the Research Notes field
- Go to the style menu on the library toolbar and click on the Arrow
- Click Select Another Style to open the complete list of output styles
- Find the style you want, and then click on it to highlight it
- Click the Choose button to select that style.
Edit the referencing style
- Click on Edit > Output Styles > Open Style Manager...
- Select the style then press Edit
- On the left column under Bibliography, select Layout
- In the box End each reference with insert Enter Research Notes Enter Enter
- Save the Output style with a new name
- Use the above method to create the bibliography using your new output style
