Moving a bibliography
How to move EndNote’s bibliography to appear above the appendices.
Caution
The first two methods require interacting with the hidden field codes within the document. Save a backup copy of the document before attempting the first two methods.
Method 1
- Select all of the formatted bibliography, ensuring that all of the shaded area is selected.
- Cut the bibliography.
- Place the cursor at the desired position.
- Paste in the bibliography.
The bibliography will be maintained and updated in the new position.
Method 2
- Right click within the grey shaded area of the bibliography.
- If “Toggle field codes” is available in the menu, click on it.
- If not available, click on grey shaded area and click shift F9.
- When the bibliography has been reduced to a single line, select all of it.
- Cut the line of code.
- Place cursor at desired position.
- Paste in the line of code.
- Repeat process for toggling field code to reinstate the bibliography.
The bibliography will be maintained and updated in the new position.
Method 3
At the completion of the writing and editing, and prior to submission.
- Save document.
- In Word’s EndNote tab, click Tools > Convert to Plain Text.
- Save newly created document.
- Cut and paste bibliography into required position within newly created document.
- Update table of content.
Any editing of these will need to be performed back in the original document before repeating the process for converting to plain text.
