Embedding video from the Library
This page covers getting links to Library resources. View information on adding video and audio content to Learn.UQ (Blackboard) from UQ eLearning.
Find and link to video streams
- Go to the Library Search
- Enter your search topic or title in the search box
- Select Available online under Show only
- Select Videos under Content type
- Click Apply Filters
- Click on the title of a result to get the Send to options
- Click on Copy link and copy the URL from the box that opens
- Add to your Learn.UQ (Blackboard) course.
Find and link to database videos
Databases with streamed video content include:
- TVNews - TV news stories, current affairs and documentary series broadcast on Australian television. Individual stories may be downloaded to the desktop in a compressed video format
- EduTV - documentaries, drama and series, classified by learning area, from free-to-air and pay TV channels
- Alexander Street Press - video collections for business, education, anthropology, dentistry, nursing, counselling and more
- Kanopy - collection of documentaries, interviews, feature films and more, arranged by subject
- Naxos Music Library - collection of digital music
- LinkedIn Learning online courses - (formerly Lynda.com) online training videos and tutorials focusing on software and skills in IT, design and business. Note: Link to LinkedIn Learning courses rather than embedding, as there is currently no method that prompts you to login via UQ Authenticate.
Search databases directly as an alternative to finding video and audio via Library Search:
- Go to our Databases
- Search for a database by title or subject
- Locate your content in the database
- Locate an embed/link or URL option for your item

Create clips of database videos
Create a clip
- Go to our Databases
- Search for a database by title or subject
- Locate your content in the database
- Look at the video playback toolbar and locate a 'Create a clip' button
Note: the location of this option may vary depending on the database product. - You may have to create an account for the database product
- Create and save the clip.
Get a link to the clip
- Go to the clips area for your user account for the database product
- Copy the link to the clip for use in your Learn.UQ (Blackboard) course.
