Artificial Intelligence

5. Studying AI at UQ

See the AI Education page on the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering page for specific details on programs available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Research participating/initiatives/testing

The Artificial Intelligence workshop is an event that occurs over the year, organised by the faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology that has students from years 7-12 work with intelligent robotic systems and advanced programming concepts.

Occasionally, UQ iLab startup intern program advertises intern positions at companies working with AI.

Every week there is a group meet up at Nano's cafe called the Hacky Hour UQ. It is not specifically for AI and machine learning, but anything related to scientific computing. It is a good place to meet other people from around the university interested in a wide range of area's within IT.

Alternatives to traditional study

The elements of AI is a free online course for everyone interested in learning what AI is, what is possible (and not possible) with AI, and how it affects our lives – with no complicated math or programming required.
