Aims and objectives
This module will:
- introduce you to Library facilities, including IT, spaces and opening hours
- explore Library resources that will help with your studies.
After completing this module, you will be able to:
- use Library facilities including 24/7 study spaces, printing services, computers and group study rooms
- find resources, such as reading lists, past exam papers and eBooks
- access the software available on Library computers.
1. Library spaces, printing and support
The Library provides easy access to information as well as physical spaces for learning and research. Services the Library provides include:

AskUs Service
The AskUs service provides help and information for students and staff and can be found in each campus, hospital Library and via online chat. We can help you with a range of queries including:
- finding information — help with searching, accessing resources and research support
- technology issues — downloading software, printing, connecting to wifi, issues with Learn.UQ
- general enquiries — borrowing and membership.
Library locations
The Library has multiple locations across different campuses and each location supports different subject areas. The Library provides spaces for individual and collaborative work and specific quiet study areas. There are also assistive technology rooms at St Lucia and height adjustable desks across locations. Floor plans are available on each library location page.

Opening Hours
Opening hours vary between Library locations and at different times of the semester. Opening hours for each location can be found on the Library website.
24/7 facilities
Many libraries are available to use 24/7. To enter them after hours, tap your student ID card on the card reader beside the door. Please keep your student ID with you at all times as security patrols these spaces after service hours.

Study space outside the Library
St Lucia
Duhig Place is an outdoor study space next to Central Library, which includes:
- Shaded seats and tables
- Power points
- Wi-fi (eduroam)
- Braille trail leading to the Central Library
- Well-lit areas for evening use.
Gatton:
The undercroft beneath the new Library is an outdoor, cool study space, where you’ll find:
- Seats and tables
- Wi-fi
Finding and booking a room
Bookable group meeting rooms and individual study rooms are available in different Library locations.
You can book a room for a maximum of:
- three hours per session
- three sessions (9 hours) per calendar week.

For example, you could book one of the two group rooms on Level 5 of Duhig Tower from 13:00 to 16:00 for three consecutive days, for group assignment meetings.
Printing in the Library
You can easily check your print credit by logging into My Library, selecting the Printing Balance, and top up your account as required. Learn more about printing, scanning and copying at UQ.
