Learn.UQ text editor

The Text editor enables you to enter and format text within your course Discussion Board, Blogs, Wikis, Blackboard Assignments and Tests and Surveys. 

Work with the Learn.UQ Text Editor

• Insert and embed files, images and media
• Insert a mashup (Flickr, YouTube, Kaltura)

Change which editor tools display

Simple view

The minimal set of tools for basic formatting.

Advanced view

The complete set of tools including equation and various insertion tools for rich media.

Switch views

• Click the Show More button (2 downward arrows) to switch to the advanced View
• Click the Show Less button to switch to the basic view

Editor settings

Resize the editor

• Click and drag the resize handle in the bottom right of the editor to enlarge the text input area
• Click the Full Screen button to work in full screen

Change the input language

The input language adjusts the dictionary the editor uses for spell checking. This feature is sticky and will persist in subsequent logins.

• Click the Spell Check arrow button
• Change the input language to UK English

Basic tools help

Click the Help button (an i information icon) to get a listing of what each editor tool does.

Preview your content

Use the Preview icon (a computer monitor) to test hyperlinks and media inclusions that are not active while you are editing.

The Java Plug-in

You require the Java software to use the Mashups > Voice Recording tool.

Install Java plug-in

Your browser may notify you when you attempt to access various features that your plug-in is out-of-date.

• Update your software and restart the browser to continue
• You can get the software from java.com if necessary

Java security settings

If security settings are blocking the voice recorder you will receive a message about an unsigned application being blocked. You will need to change your security settings:

Go to your Java application > Configure Java.

Go to the Security tab.

Click the Edit Site List button to add a security exception.

• Add https://learn.uq.edu.au
  This will resolve problems with the voice recording tool.
• Add https://cdnsecakmi.kaltura.com
  This will resolve problems with the Kaltura screen recording (screencasting) tool.
• Click OK

Reload the voice recorder or screencast tool.
