Our history

The Fryer Memorial Library of Australian Literature was founded in 1927 in honour of John Denis Fryer. For over 90 years, we have been collecting a rich store of unique cultural material, supporting students and researchers in their research projects and hosting events for our community of scholars. Fryer's special collections provide rich, untapped research material such as letters, diaries, manuscripts, architectural plans & models, photographs and rare books.
