Media creation and editing tools are used to produce and edit video, audio and graphics.

Media creation and editing software is available on Centre for Digital Scholarship computers and via web based portals. Contact the Centre for Digital Scholarship for advice and information.

iMovie is software for creating and editing videos for iOS and macOS.

Use iMovie to:  

  • create and edit videos
  • add titles, music and effects
  • share and upload your videos.

2. Adobe Premiere Pro

Adobe Premiere Pro is sophisticated video creation and editing software. The interface requires a bit of time to learn to use effectively.

Adobe Premiere Pro allows you to:

  • screencapture and edit video 
  • import existing video files and edit them
  • add titles, audio and effects.

Access Adobe Premiere Pro

On Library computers open the ZENworks application to locate Adobe Premiere Pro.

Students who are currently enrolled in a degree-granting course can use the software on UQ owned computers that are located at UQ premises. They may not use the software on their personal computers or laptops.

Students can trial or purchase a student license for Adobe Creative Cloud which includes Premiere Pro.

Staff can request access to Premiere Pro for work and home use (on request).

3. Microsoft Photos or Movie Maker

The Photos app is available for Windows 10 and Office 365. Photos allows users to create simple videos out of existing photographs, videos, and sound recordings. 

Movie Maker is video editing software from Microsoft. It offers the ability to create, edit and publish videos. Movie maker allows you to capture and edit video and import and edit existing video files.

On Library computers:

  1. Open the ZENworks window
  2. Click on General Applications
  3. Click on Program Installs
  4. Double click on MS Movie Maker 2012

4. Audio and image editing software

Audacity is free software for recording and editing audio. It is available on Library computers via ZENworks. Do the Up and running with Audacity course on Lynda.com

GIMP is a free, open source, desktop application for image editing.  Do the Gimp essential training course on Lynda.com
