Reactions in a Zoom meeting

Your Course Coordinator may ask you to use reactions to raise your hand to speak or react to a particular question anytime throughout a Zoom meeting.

  1. Click on the Participants button to launch the sidebar.

Raise your hand to speak

  1. Click on the Raise Hand reaction.

  1. The Raise Hand icon will appear next to your name and your Course Coordinator will be notified.

  1. Click on the Unmute button (or press the Spacebar on your keyboard) to speak once your Course Coordinator has indicated you can do so.

Tip: You can also hold the Spacebar on your keyboard to temporarily unmute your microphone.

  1. Click on the Mute button (or press the Spacebar on your keyboard) once you have finished speaking.
  2. Click on the Lower Hand button.

React to a question or statement

  1. To respond, click on a reaction (i.e. yes) to apply it.

  1. Any applied reactions will appear next to your name.

  1. Optionally, click on the more button to view additional reactions.

  1. To remove the reaction, click on the same reaction again or select a different reaction.

Note: Your Course Coordinator may clear all reactions at any time.

Polling in a Zoom meeting

Your Course Coordinator may ask you to complete multiple choice polling questions anytime throughout a Zoom meeting. 

  1. Once your Course Coordinator has deployed a poll, a pop-up window will appear on your screen.
  2. Select the desired radio button(s) and click on the Submit button. 

Note: Your Course Coordinator can decide to close the poll at anytime.

  1. Once your Course Coordinator has closed the poll, they may choose to share the results with you. 
  2. Once your Course Coordinator has shared the poll results, a pop-up window will appear on your screen.
  3. Click on the Close button to close this pop-up window. 

Note: Your Course Coordinator can decide to stop sharing the poll results at anytime.
