From 25 October 2024, the Library is encouraging the use of the new Vancouver referencing guide, based on the American Medical Association (AMA) style, in UQ courses.
Switch for 2025
The Vancouver AMA style is used by many international universities and colleges and is more user-friendly than other versions of Vancouver.
We encourage UQ teaching staff who use the Vancouver style to switch to Vancouver AMA for your 2025 courses.
UQ students should refer to their course profile for which referencing styles are required in their courses.
Legacy Vancouver style will be retired
The legacy Vancouver referencing style, based on the National Library of Medicine (NLM) manual, will retired and removed from our website after Semester 2, 2025, has concluded.
