Congratulations to Rian Mantasa Salve Prastica who won the UQ Visualise Your Thesis (VYT) competition for 2024, sponsored by the UQ Association of Postgraduate Students (APS), Inc.
The awards were announced in the Central Library on Wednesday 28 August 2024.
The 2024 winner
Rian Mantasa is a PhD student in the School of Civil Engineering.
Rian's VYT entry was selected by the judges as the 2024 winner from 12 competition entries. He was also voted Viewers' Choice winner by the audience!
Rian won the full $1500 in prize money provided by the APS as well as a small prize from Science Direct and Figshare (international competition sponsors).
Judges comments
The judges said:
- Great video - the connection between your research and communities across the globe is clear. The statistics are arresting, the pace is spot on, and the choice of locations is perfect. Congratulations.
- Wow! Loved the dramatic opening and it just had me fully engaged the whole way. Fabulous video.
- The video excels in engaging the audience with a creative and informative presentation style.
The use of personal footage and dynamic visuals effectively conveys the topic's importance.The narrator's enthusiasm and clear communication enhance the video's appeal.
