Congratulations and farewell to Michael Fagg

On 23 September 2022, we farewell librarian Michael Fagg who is retiring after 34 years with the UQ Library. Thank you to Michael for his dedicated service to the UQ community.

Michael's contribution

Michael has held a variety of roles within the Library. He has supported the Schools of English, Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, worked in the Multimedia Team, and supervised the former Ask IT service.

He has assisted numerous students and staff through consultations and classes.

Changes within the Library

Michael has experienced significant change within the Library including:

  • the impact of the internet and the increasingly digital nature of libraries
  • changes to library locations such as the opening, renaming, refurbishment, and closing of locations
  • a dramatic change to his hairstyle¬†(see image below)!

Plans for retirement

Michael intends to kick back, enjoy the outdoors and go fishing as much as possible.
