Access to Fryer Library materials in the FW Robinson Reading Room is by appointment only. This will enable us to provide you with a high level of service and safety.
About the appointment system
We are currently open Monday to Thursday by appointment only. Appointments must be made five business days in advance.
You can book a research desk in the:
- Morning: 9.30-12.30pm
- Afternoon: 1.30-4.30pm
or reserve a whole day. Note that the reading room is closed for an hour over lunch.
There are four research desks available to use Fryer Library, UQ Archives and document delivery materials. There is a further space available for clients who need to use our microfilm or high-quality BookEye scanner.

- Book a research desk and
- Request your materials.
Book a research desk
Use our online booking system to book an appointment at least five business days before you want to visit.
There are four steps to booking an appointment:
- Choose the day and time you wish to book. Available appointments are shown in green. You can book both morning and afternoon appointments if required. Click Submit times to confirm.
- Read the FW Robinson Reading Room terms and conditions and click Continue to proceed.
- Fill in the booking form and click Submit my Booking. This will add your booking to our system.
- You will receive a confirmation email with details of your appointment times. If you need to cancel, we include a link to do this in the email. You will also receive a reminder email the day before your appointment.
We are currently taking bookings between one and five weeks in advance, so feel free to book early!
Request your materials
Your appointment will be confirmed by an email which will contain a link to request the materials you wish to view. We will retrieve the items and have them ready for your visit.
