Library upgrades, level 1, Duhig Tower, April-May 2019

During April and May, we will build a new kitchenette and female toilets on level 1 of the Duhig Tower. This is part of ongoing library upgrades to improve amenities and create better spaces for you.

Upgrades to the Male and Persons with Disabilities' (PWD) amenities were completed in early 2019.

New student kitchenette

The new kitchenette should be completed in the first week of April. This space will have:

  • A larger fridge (without a freezer) to store food
  • Microwaves to heat food
  • Hot and cold water
  • Nearby seating.

We will complete the new kitchenette before removing the old one. You will have access to a kitchenette throughout the construction period.

Female toilets

The old kitchenette and PWD toilet will be demolished to create a fresh new space with 6 female toilets.

Partial floorplan of level 1, Duhig Tower. This is the area off the main entry foyer near Library Training Rooms D108 and D108A
and the Central Teaching Room D114.

Stage 1 works are complete.

Construction work

  • The work will be conducted in two lots, starting with the installation of the new kitchenette. This will be followed by demolition and the construction of the new toilets.
  • We will wall off construction sites as we go. There will be less seating in the area during construction.
  • Noisy works will be conducted early in the morning and conclude each day by 8am. View our Locations for alternative study spots.
  • There may be smells from things like paint and waterproofing. We expect these smells will dissipate quickly.
