From 3 April, the Social Sciences and Humanities Library High-Use collection and requested items are available 24/7 on Level 1 of the Social Sciences and Humanities Library.

What is in the high use section?
- Learning resources (High-Use collection) from Social Sciences and Humanities Library
- Requested items for pickup (holds and document delivery)
- Self-service machines for borrowing
- Vending machine (stationary/office supplies)
- Multifunction printers
- Lockers
- High-Use items are short loans that are in high demand, like your learning resources (course readings). We are trialling 24-hour loans of the Social Sciences and Humanities High-Use collection.
- Requested items are either on hold or requested via document delivery. This is the single collection point for requested items at St Lucia.
There are also rooms you can book:
- 3 assistive technology rooms
- 4 group meeting rooms
- 2 individual study spaces

24/7 access
This section is available 24/7.
- To enter:
- during regular hours, the door will open automatically
- after 6pm, your UQ ID card is required. Touch your card to the reader
- To exit: press the silver Exit button on the wall to the left of the exit door. The door does not open automatically from the inside.
Borrow and return items in this section
Borrow items
Borrow the item at the self service machine. We will email you a receipt that contains the date and time when your item is due back.
Return items
- Return High-Use items using the self service machine in the High-Use section
- Place the returned item on the returns shelves next to the machine. The item is immediately available to others.
Return all other items, including requested items, via the returns chutes at Social Sciences and Humanities Library.
