Colin Clark Building: Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (Building 39)

Dr Colin Clark (1905 - 1989) was an influential economist and statistician. Over the course of his career, as a public servant and academic, he published prolifically in the field of applied economics.

In 1938, at the request of Premier Forgan Smith, he became director of the Bureau of Industry, Government Statistician and financial adviser to the Treasury of Queensland. From 1947 to 1952 he served as Under Secretary of the Queensland Department of Labour and Industry.

He later returned to Queensland in 1978 as a research consultant in economics at the University of Queensland.

Since 1991 the School of Economics has run an annual Colin Clark Memorial Lecture.
